Stephen Ladyman: Proud of what we achieved

Unfortunately, the election in South thanet did not go the way I hoped. South Thanet now has a Conservative MP.

It was an honour to serve as the MP for thirteen great years and I'm proud of what we achieved together. Thanks to everyone who helped and supported me.

Dear Dr Ladyman, Best wishes for today and all my family are voting for you. I work for the Home Office and know the many achievements the Labour Party have made in the area of Immigration. It is a pity these did not feature in your top 50 achievements as this is one of the main questions on everyone's lips. Here in the South East the number of illegal immigrants, fraudsters, smugglers has been reduced dramatically since 2004 when we juxtaposed the Calais/Dover passport controls and HMRC and UKBA are for the first time working together, thanks to Gordon Browns vision. Very best wishes and thank you for all you have done in the area! Phil McNulty.
