22/11/07 - Jonathan Shaw, the Fisheries Minister, visited the Port of Ramsgate with Steve last week to meet with representatives of Ramsgate's under
10m fishing fleet. Ramsgate's fishermen are struggling to make ends meet because of an unfair quota system that grants small vessels, like those based in Ramsgate, a
disproportionally small amount of fish that they are allowed to catch.
Steve has used a House of Common's debate to call for more government help for Ramsgates fishermen, and would also like to see local fish
markets created to help our local fisherman market their catch.
