Stephen Ladyman: Proud of what we achieved

Unfortunately, the election in South thanet did not go the way I hoped. South Thanet now has a Conservative MP.

It was an honour to serve as the MP for thirteen great years and I'm proud of what we achieved together. Thanks to everyone who helped and supported me.

   Veterans Day

Following the success of last years inaugural event Steve celebrated Veterans Day 2009 at the Clarendon House Arts Centre in Ramsgate with a number of South Thanet veterans and their families.

It is in recognition of veterans' continued service to the community that the Ministry of Defence launched the annual Veterans Day on 27 June 2006.

Veterans Day is both a celebration of the contribution made by all those who have served in the Armed Forces and a means of raising public awareness of Veterans issues. It takes the form of a nationwide celebration.

Steve said;

'Initiated in 2006 the annual UK Veterans Day sought to raise the public profile of Veterans and the support that is available for this diverse community. Although this is only the fourth year this annual celebration is rapidly developing into a nationwide celebration.

It was a pleasure speaking with the veterans and listening to their tales of service. The sacrifices made by our men and woman in uniform, throughout our history and still today, are humbling; we owe our freedom to these people, a fact we must not forget.

I very much look forward to seeing them all again next year'.
